Following a successful premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival last September, Genius Within: The Inner Life of Glenn Gould will receive three screenings at Cinecenta Films in Victoria, British Columbia on May 18, 19 and 20.  Kevin Bazzana, award-winning author of Wondrous Strange: The Life and Art of Glenn Gould, will be in attendance for a Q&A session at each of the three screenings.

The latest documentary from White Pines Pictures and co-directed by Peter Raymont and Michèle Hozer, Genius Within has been garnering critical acclaim from diverse audiences, including those who have only just been introduced to Gould.

“…Even those of us who don’t know about Gould’s work will appreciate this film.”
         – Steve McLean,

“A stunning array of archival footage highlighted by personal anecdotes from close friends…”
         – Steve Gow, Metro

“If you want to know why this man is considered one of the greatest pianists of the last century, or you've ever pondered the links between genius and eccentricity, or if you just want to encounter a veritable fireworks display of personality, this is the movie to see.”
         – Vancouver International Film Festival

In addition to having had several runs in theatres and film festivals across Canada, Genius Within has also been presented to international audiences at such venues as the International Documentary Film Festival (Netherlands), the Latin American Film Festival (Cuba), and the Thessaloniki Documentary Festival (Greece).  Upcoming screenings include the Planete Doc Review in Warsaw, Poland, and at Full Frame in North Carolina, USA.

With a recent airing on the Bravo! network earlier this year, Genius Within will receive additional Canadian broadcasts throughout 2010 on TVO, Knowledge Network and SCN, as well as international broadcasts on Germay’s ZDF-ARTE, Sweden’s SVT, The Netherlands’ NPS and PBS in the United States.
