On October 3, Toronto City Council passed a motion proclaiming every September 25 henceforth as

“Glenn Gould Day" in Toronto

The motion was sponsored by Toronto City Councillor Josh Matlow (Ward 22, St. Paul’s) who represents the ward in which Glenn Gould lived, and Mount Pleasant Cemetary, and Councillor Joe Cressy (Ward 20, Trinity-Spadina) which includes the CBC Broadcast Centre, and Glenn Gould Place.

The Glenn Gould Foundation was delighted to work with Councillor Matlow and his team, who provided skilled and dedicated support, framing the motion to include a valuable summary of Glenn Gould’s lifetime achievements and ongoing legacy.

Every September 25th, a copy of the proclamation will be displayed on the first floor of Toronto City Hall, and will serve as an occasion for celebratory activities by the Foundation.

The Glenn Gould Foundation thanks Councillors Matlow, Cressy and the members of Toronto City Council for this important recognition of the city’s most illustrious son.
